I love black and white photos. Maybe its because when I took my first photography class, back when you actually had to use film, all we took were black and white pictures. There is just something to them that makes them special. I am really starting to fall in love with having just a burst of selective coloring in black and whites. It doesn’t work with all pictures, but in certain ones, I really think it makes the story they tell come alive. I haven’t done a lot these particular pictures, however I do have a small sampling to show you. While the original pictures were beautiful, the sea of green grass or the multitude of colors from the blanket and toys seemed to overwhelm the picture. By highlighting the color in the skirt or the shirt I think it helps to bring the eye back to the main focus of the picture….a little girl playing. Do you think that a little bit of a color pop adds to a picture, or detracts?
Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything that is beautiful; for beauty is God’s handwriting — a wayside sacrament. Welcome it in every fair face, in every fair sky, in every fair flower, and thank God for it as a cup of blessing.
